The Garden

The gardens are one of the most interesting places of the house. The lower garden is the ideal place to have an evening cocktail or to simply relax under the gigantic araucaria tree (an evergreen coniferous tree – Araucaria angustifolia). It is a formal topiary garden where there are several types of roses, a collection of “succulent” plants and some archeological pieces.

From this garden, bordered by a large cistern, you can access the “patio”, a cobblestone Alentejo corridor, where meals can be served, and then from there, you can go up to the so-called “upper garden”, which has a heated swimming pool, next to an old dovecote, and various relaxation areas. There are various types of fruit trees; an organic vegetable garden, for home consumption; a barbecue with a nice view of the church and the castle and another dining area, under pergola where you can have meal outside, surrounded by citrus fragrances and different shades of green.
